Checking a travel restriction in Dubai
If you are concerned about a travel restriction, identify the authority and matter that may have led to it. A criminal proceeding, a civil claim and an immigration issue may require different enquiries.
Do not assume that an unresolved dispute automatically means a restriction exists, or that one negative online result establishes unrestricted travel.
Begin with official guidance
The UAE Government’s preliminary travel checks guidance identifies official enquiry routes, including a Dubai service concerning financial cases and related travel bans. Confirm the current service requirements and the scope of its result.
Check the underlying matter
Collect the case reference, any decision concerning a restriction and evidence of steps already taken. The authority responsible for the restriction must be identified before advice can be given on an application or follow-up enquiry.
A case enquiry and a travel enquiry are different
Knowing that a matter is pending does not determine every aspect of your travel position. Likewise, a result from a service with limited coverage should not be treated as confirmation concerning all jurisdictions or immigration records.
If a restriction is identified
Obtain the available decision or reference and seek advice about its basis, current status and the procedure for any application. A payment, settlement or request should not be assumed to remove every restriction without confirmation.
